Willington Street supports Leeds PC in road petition

Dear Ms. Mcwethy,
(Reporter with Kent Messenger) Friday November 6th 2015.

John Govett, Chair of Leeds Parish Council, spoke openly and frankly in the interview
he gave last week. For decades, the residents of south and south east Maidstone
have suffered with the lack of highway investment for our county town. As Mr. Govett
rightly states, a bypass has been promised for years and years.

WillAct, Maidstone residents and indeed others who travel to and from other towns
and cities, including haulage contractors, all recognise this new road is long overdue.
MBC and KCC must work together to investigate all avenues and obtain funding.

We endorse and support Leeds Parish Council and will work with them to make this
new road a reality. We ask all residents to please sign this Petition. Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
J. Sutton

Leeds Parish Council donates £2,000 to our local Leeds village school children for new computers and IT kit.

Leeds Parish Council on your behalf has donated £2,000 to our local Leeds
village school children for new computers and IT kit.

This year Leeds and Broomfield school is embarking on a major upgrade
of all their IT equipment which has not been reviewed for many years.
This includes a brand new server, introduction of WI-FI in to the school
and all their computers being replaced. It is a huge project, with an
even bigger cost!

Commenting on the donation, the School have said: "All the children and staff
at Leeds and Broomfield school would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the
Parish Council for their generous donation of £2000 which is helping to
support the development of our IT equipment in school.
The donation will help us to buy essential equipment such as laptops and
Kindles to help support the delivery of the school's curriculum. I am sure the children, via our school council, will enjoy having a say in how some of the
money is spent! Thank you to everybody who has helped to make this possible."

New Thames crossing options

Announcing that there are sufficient grounds
to disregard Option B as a result of the Options
for a New Lower Thames Crossing consultation.

On 21 May 2013 the Department for Transport announced the

launch of public consultation on Options for a New Lower Thames Crossing. The consultation document set out the case
for additional road-based river crossing capacity in the Lower
Thames area and the relative merits of 3 potential locations
with one variant. It invited views on where to locate a new
crossing.

The 3 options on which we consulted were:
  • Option A: at the site of the existing A282 Dartford-Thurrock river crossing
  • Option B: connecting the A2 with the A1089 XXX
  • Option C: connecting the M2 with the A13 and the M25 between junctions 29 and 30
  • Option C variant: additionally widening the A229 between the M2 and M20
